Blue Flag award information

Blue Flag is a prestigious, international award scheme which is awarded to coastal destinations which have achieved the highest quality in water, facilities, safety, environmental education and management.

The Environmental Management & Facilities section of the criteria needed to achieve the Blue Flag Award stipulates:

• The beach should have facilities for receiving recyclable waste materials, such as glass bottles and cans.
• This facility should be securely located on or near to the beach.
